Today 49.0 n mi. - Eng: 4.8 hrs __________________________ Yeah! We made it! Here are the numbers for this trip: Since leaving New Hampshire: 24 days ago We traveled: 1410 nautical miles Average Daily run: 64 n mi (74 stat mi) Total Engine time: 131 hours Total Fuel consumed: 564.7 gallons Average Speed: 10.8 knots (12.4 mph) Average Fuel burn: 4.3 gal/hr Average mileage: 2.5 n mi/gal (2.9 stat mi/gal) Total Miles under Sno' Dog's keels: 9,807 naut. miles Total Engine Time: 1,062 hours Once again, Sno' Dog proved she is the right boat for this trip. Not a single problem (except for a fresh water pump failure, which was an easy 15-min change-out.) We listened on the VHF as others anguished over tides, currents, shallow spots and bridge clearances as we sailed on through - often passing on the wrong side of a marker in order to pass a clutch of nervous nellies. Some people seem to find the trip quite nerve wraking, they travel in groups constantly warning each other of upcoming hazards. But we found trip very enjoyable and strees-free. We never needed anything more than our trusty Raymarine chart plotter, we never pulled out a paper chart on the whole trip. Of course, having a boat with 2'-4" draft and dual depth sounders helps a lot. We look forward to doing it again next spring. |
