I call this photo: "Paray-le-Moonial" - a full moon over the Amarok in Paray-le-Monial.

The Basilica in Paray-le-Monial - quite beautiful at night!
.
Pretty barge "Alouette" with an American flag. Not many
of these here. We've actually seen more Australian flags!
Lots of cows, Charolais I think, along this stretch of canal.
Draw-bridge, reminiscent of Holland, in Montceau-les-Mines.

Brasserie du Pot - Pot Bar! Just opposite our slip in Montceau-
les-Mines. (Supposed to be Port, but the "r" was out.)
Saturday 5 July - Big outdoor Marché right on the
quay next to our boat. Nancy liked it!
Installed engine-room blower switch on Amarok.
Bill & Winnie from Gretige Henrietta came aboard
for Ragout de Lapin (rabbit stew) cooked by Nancy.

Mother duck keeping her ducklings under close scrutiny.
Pretty, but cool and rainy, along this stretch of the canal.
Taking advantage of a rare sunny period to do laundry.
Not too much in Montchanin - except another yellow barge!
Production of these decorative tiles was a major industry
in this region over the past several hundred years. You
still see them adding life to otherwise drab houses.
Passing over the summit of the Canal du Centre just past Montchanin.
No tunnel here, but some fairly deep cuts through a pretty wild area.
7 July - 9:00 AM - Dep Montchanin - Rain!
12:15 PM - Arr: St-Julien-sur-Dheune
VNF advised stopping here due to lock problem
further along. Visited lovely Dutch barge "ESME".
Today: 4.7 mi - 2.5 hrs - 8 locks
This beautiful Dutch luxemotor "ESME" pulled in to the Halte in St-Julien-sur-Dheune.
The live-aboard British owners invited us aboard for drinks.
Also in St-Julien-sur-Dheune, this hotel barge "Hirondelle" passed by. I'm always impressed by the skill of
the captains of these huge barges as they navigate the canals and locks - without the aid of a bow thruster!
Remarkable to realize that some of these locks have remained in service with minimal maintenance for over 140 years!
